Store checks could be a means of checking out competitors. For example, if our client produces ice cream products, we can go to the top grocery stores in a 1st or 2nd tier city (Walmart, Carrefour etc) and analyse which ice cream products are being sold already in these stores. We can then find out information about the ice cream products, how they are branded, the price point, where they are positioned and what their USP’s seem to be.
This has been really useful for some of our clients to give them an idea or how saturated or unsaturated the market is, what products the client would be competing with, and if the price point, they discussed is realistic.
